Shelter Procedure
When appropriate, animals are given an initial preventive vaccination for distemper, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus. Each animal is registered for identification. Except for vicious or severely sick or injured animals, stray dogs are kept for a minimum of 48 hours while every attempt is made to locate the animal's owner. Both dogs and cats are then kept as long as possible in hopes of adoption.
